A Flagler County deputy is being lauded for his quick actions in putting out a kitchen fire in a Palm Coast home. Deputy Christopher Murphy was the first to arrive at the scene and used his agency-issued fire extinguisher to suppress the blaze.
Details of the Incident
According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s office, Murphy confirmed all residents had safely evacuated the home before he entered to put out the fire. Body-worn camera video shared by the sheriff’s office shows Murphy locating the fire on the stove and using the extinguisher to put it out.
Murphy, along with Flagler County Fire Rescue and the Palm Coast Fire Department, were commended for their actions in saving the home and nearby structures. Sheriff Rick Staly praised Murphy’s selfless actions, saying he ‘acted quickly, selflessly, and ran toward danger while putting the safety of the residents first.’
