States Showcase Their Unique Characters

Visitors to the fair were united by their enthusiasm for states to come together and show off their unique characters, famous natives, industries, and history. However, some attendees felt that the fair was a great idea, but perhaps an opportunity missed, as it highlighted divisions rather than unity.

Some states, such as Maine, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania, opted not to send delegations, citing costs, scheduling, or politicization concerns. Other booths, including those for Hawaii and Alaska, were unstaffed.

Attendees Share Their Thoughts

Attendees shared their thoughts on the fair, with some expressing their desire for a nonpartisan celebration of American unity. Sharyn Bovat, a visitor from Florida, said, “There’s nice people, nice events, nice family events… I wish they would create a USA 250 for all the people. I’m tired of the politics.”

Andy Walters, who attended the fair with his family from Wapakoneta, Ohio, said, “I think it’s nice. I wish all the states were participating. It’s a little underwhelming, but it’s a great idea.” His wife, Kirsten, added, “We’re excited to be here and participate. We wish something similar would be held more often, without the overtones.”
