Francisco Lindor is ready to rejoin the New York Mets, but the team is dealing with an injury to Juan Soto. Soto exited a game against the Chicago Cubs due to a tight back and may be sidelined beyond Wednesday.
Mets’ Manager Comments on Soto’s Injury
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said he couldn’t rule out a trip to the injured list for Soto. Mendoza expressed concern for the superstar outfielder, who is in the second season of a 15-year, $765 million deal.
Lindor, who has been sidelined since April 22 with a strained left calf, played in his third rehab game and is expected to be activated prior to the nightcap of a doubleheader. The Mets will proceed cautiously with Lindor, who will likely sit out Thursday’s game and see more time at designated hitter.
The Mets also announced that starter Kodai Senga has been shifted to the bullpen. Senga has struggled this season, with an ERA of 10.08, and hasn’t earned a win since June 12, 2025.
