Labaron Philon Jr., a 6-foot-3, 176-pound guard from Mobile, Alabama, was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 22nd pick in the first round of the NBA draft. Philon, who played for Alabama Men’s Basketball, led the team in scoring with 22.0 points per game as a sophomore.
Philon’s College Career
Philon averaged 5.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game in his sophomore season. He scored a career-high 35 points in Alabama’s 117-115 double-overtime victory over Arkansas in February. Philon made 50.1% of his shots from the floor and 39.9% from beyond the arc as a sophomore.
Philon is an electric playmaker with the ability to score at any level, thriving from three-point range and driving to the basket. Although he won’t be asked to start immediately in Philadelphia, he could develop as a key role player for the 76ers.
