A 7-year-old boy from Burleson, Texas, is being hailed as a hero after rescuing his 1-year-old brother from a backyard swimming pool. The incident occurred on June 21 on Ketron Road in Burleson.
Quick Thinking Saves a Life
According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the boy, identified as Patrick, discovered his younger brother, Liam, unresponsive in the pool and acted quickly to save his life. Patrick pulled Liam from the water, alerted their mother, and then ran to a neighbor’s home to seek additional help.
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene and immediately began lifesaving measures. Liam was stabilized and transported to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, where he is expected to make a full recovery.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has nominated Patrick for a Sheriff’s Commendation Award, which recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional courage and service. The nomination will be reviewed by the Sheriff’s Office Awards Committee during its next meeting.
Sheriff’s officials credited Patrick’s actions with playing a critical role in saving his brother’s life. ‘In moments of crisis, even adults can freeze under pressure,’ said Lt. Keven George. ‘Patrick did the opposite. He remained focused, acted with urgency, and demonstrated a level of courage, awareness, and determination far beyond his years.’
