The Bluff Park Art Association announced that the 63rd annual Bluff Park Art Show will be held on Monday, Oct. 3, beginning at 9 a.m. at Bluff Park Community Park in Hoover, Alabama. The day‑long event invites residents to “see, taste, hear, smell and touch” a wide variety of works from artists across the South.
Blind‑Jury Selection Guarantees Quality
BPAA President Rachael Jamison explained that this year’s show is unique because every participating artist was chosen through a blind‑jury process. “Applicants submit photos of their work, and our jury scores them all without knowing who the artists are,” Jamison said. “This ensures a consistently high standard of quality art at the show.”
More Than 120 Artists and a Renowned Judge
The exhibition will feature over 120 artists working in media such as painting, ceramics, fiber arts, sculpture, photography, jewelry, woodworking, glass and more. Multimedia artist Minkyu Lee, known for his vessel and furniture work in ceramics and wood, will serve as the show’s judge.
Family‑Friendly Activities and Food Options
Families can enjoy a dedicated kids’ art area run by the Girl Scouts, where parents may sign their children up for hands‑on projects while they explore the galleries. “We also have plenty of food trucks this year,” Jamison added. Confirmed vendors include G.R.’s Smokehouse, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee, Kona Ice, Nettie B’s Grill, Domi Empanadas, Sweet Claire’s Caboose, Alabama Peanut, Cookie Fix, South Fizz Soda and The Park Nutrition. Dogs are welcome throughout the park.
Convenient Transportation and Parking
Hoover Board of Education school buses will run continuously between Shades Mountain Plaza, Bluff Park United Methodist Church and Shades Mountain Community Church, providing ADA‑compliant shuttles for attendees. City shuttles will also loop to Shades Crest Baptist Church. Parking is available at Shades Mountain Plaza (2400 Mountain Drive), Bluff Park United Methodist Church (733 Valley St.), Shades Crest Baptist Church (452 Park Ave.) and Shades Mountain Community Church (2281 Old Tyler Road).
Anticipated Attendance and Community Impact
Organizers expect roughly 7,000 patrons to attend the day‑long celebration of local creativity. “This event allows everyone the ability to find something that they like,” Jamison said, emphasizing the show’s role in supporting Hoover’s vibrant community of makers, designers, doers and dreamers.
The Bluff Park Art Show will conclude at 5 p.m. For additional details, visit bluffparkartassociation.org.
