The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) reported that deputies were dispatched to the residence around 11 p.m. after a 911 call.
When officers arrived, they found the child alone in the closet with the gun. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries. “We are in the process of interviewing the mother and the 10‑year‑old child who was home at the time, trying to determine exactly how the child got in the closet – you know, how this happened, as far as how the child found the firearm,” Sergeant Brown explained. “But as of right now, we believe it’s going to be accidental.”
