Three dogs were found dead at a Brevard County home connected to a woman who was mauled by her neighbor’s dogs last month. The dogs found dead are possibly the same ones involved in the original attack, but this has not been confirmed.

Fatal Attack

Jodi Cowan, 50, was attacked by two dogs belonging to her neighbor on Blue Bonnet Drive near Cocoa. Cowan’s partner, Donnell Smith, said he had just returned home when he realized Cowan and one of their dogs had disappeared. He then heard a faint cry for help and saw the silhouette of the two dogs dragging his wife down the road.

Smith found Cowan lying in a pool of blood with bites all over her body. He said the dogs then came back and tried to drag her away from him. Smith was able to call 911, but Cowan died from her injuries hours later.

Smith said he and others had previously warned the sheriff’s office about the dogs. The woman who owns the dogs, 29-year-old Linda Cutler, was arrested two weeks ago on a charge of manslaughter.
