Three people are dead after a pickup truck was discovered overturned in a Palm Beach County canal Tuesday morning, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
Fire rescue crews were dispatched to a report of a vehicle in a roadside canal at approximately 7:20 a.m. A 911 caller reported seeing the vehicle in the water but did not witness it entering the canal. Authorities said it is unclear how long the vehicle had been submerged before it was discovered.
When crews arrived, they found an overturned pickup truck in a narrow canal with only its wheels visible above the water. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue divers searched the vehicle and surrounding area. Paramedics later pronounced three people dead at the scene.
The identities of the victims have not been released. After the recovery operation was completed, the scene was turned over to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
