A single Powerball ticket sold in Illinois matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing to win a massive $1.04 billion jackpot.
Winning Numbers
The winning numbers in the Wednesday, Aug. 12 drawing were 4, 26, 66, 67 and 69, with a Powerball of 9. The Power Play multiplier was 2.
The $1.04 billion prize is the largest Powerball jackpot won so far this year and the eighth-largest jackpot in the game’s history.
The winner can choose between the $1.04 billion annuitized prize or a lump-sum payment of $450.5 million. Both options are before taxes. The annuity is paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years.
Wednesday night’s drawing marked the 44th consecutive drawing since the Powerball jackpot was last won on May 2.
More than 3 million tickets won cash prizes in the drawing.
Tickets sold in Arizona, California, Florida and North Carolina matched all five white balls to win the Match 5 prize. The prize is $1 million in most states, while California prizes are determined based on ticket sales and the number of winners.
A fifth Match 5 ticket sold in Massachusetts included the Power Play option, increasing its prize to $2 million.
