Zoobilation Returns to Montgomery Zoo on Sept. 17 to Fund New Reptile Habitat

Montgomery, Ala. – The Montgomery Zoo’s beloved annual fundraiser, Zoobilation, is back for its 2026 edition. The event will take place on Thursday, September 17, starting at 6:00 p.m., and promises an evening of food, live music, and refreshments for families and community members who want to support a good cause.

Purpose of the fundraiser

All proceeds from Zoobilation go directly to the zoo’s capital campaign for a brand‑new reptile facility. The new habitat will provide a modern, educational environment for the zoo’s growing collection of snakes, turtles, lizards and crocodilians, giving visitors a closer look at these often‑misunderstood creatures.

Ticket information and what to expect

Tickets start at $65 and can be purchased online through the zoo’s website or at the zoo’s ticket office. The price includes entry to the zoo, access to the evening’s entertainment, and a complimentary drink. Attendees will find a variety of food vendors offering classic fair fare, as well as local specialties that showcase Alabama’s culinary traditions.

Live music will feature regional bands playing a mix of country, rock and pop, creating a festive atmosphere for guests of all ages. For families with children, the zoo will host a series of interactive activities, including a reptile‑themed scavenger hunt and a chance to meet some of the zoo’s resident snakes and turtles under the guidance of knowledgeable staff.

Community involvement

Zoobilation is organized in partnership with Action 8 News, which serves as a proud sponsor of the event. Action 8’s Estee Morrison recently sat down with Bailey Klepac to discuss the night’s schedule, the importance of the new reptile facility, and how the community can get involved. The interview is available on the Action 8 website for those who want a preview of what’s to come.

Local businesses have also stepped up to support the fundraiser. Several Montgomery restaurants are providing catering services, and a handful of vendors will set up booths to showcase their products, further emphasizing the event’s role as a community‑wide effort.

How to get involved

In addition to purchasing tickets, residents can contribute by volunteering on the night of the event. Volunteer roles include greeting guests, assisting with food stations, and helping with the reptile‑themed activities. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up early, as spots fill quickly.

For more details about Zoobilation, ticket sales, or volunteer opportunities, visit the Montgomery Zoo’s official website or click the link provided in the original announcement.

Why the new reptile facility matters

The upcoming reptile habitat will not only enhance the zoo’s animal collection but also serve as an educational resource for schools and youth groups. By offering hands‑on learning experiences, the zoo hopes to inspire a new generation of conservationists who understand the ecological importance of reptiles.

Overall, Zoobilation represents a chance for Montgomery families to gather, enjoy a night out, and contribute to a lasting improvement in the city’s cultural and educational landscape.
