WyoPreps Releases 2026 High School Volleyball Rankings Across All Four Classes

Wyoming high school volleyball fans received the latest WyoPreps Coaches and Media poll on Wednesday, offering a clear picture of the state’s top programs as the 2026 season gains momentum. The poll, which gathered votes from every head coach and several media members, ranks teams in each of the four class divisions and highlights a few surprise moves.

Class 1A: Hulett Takes the Lead

After a rocky opening weekend for Cokeville, the Hulett Red Devils surged to the No. 1 spot in Class 1A, earning nine of the 13 first‑place votes. Cokeville fell to second, while Burlington holds third. Upton, the only team to stay in the same position from the preseason poll, remains fourth, and Little Snake River rounds out the top five.

Class 2A: Big Horn Holds Strong, Southeast Breaks In

Big Horn continues its dominance as the unanimous No. 1 selection in Class 2A. Greybull and Pine Bluffs hold the second and third spots respectively. The newcomer Southeast Cyclones jumped into fourth place, signaling a potential new challenger for the top tier.

Class 3A: Tongue River Earns a Spot in the Top Three

Undefeated Tongue River’s strong start propelled the Eagles to a No. 3 ranking in Class 3A. Lovell retains the top position, followed by Douglas at No. 2. Torrington moved up a spot, pushing Mountain View down to fifth.

Class 4A: Cody and Evanston Break Into the Top Five

Kelly Walsh remains the benchmark program at No. 1 in Class 4A, with Green River holding steady at No. 2. Cody and Evanston each entered the top five for the first time, landing at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively. Thunder Basin completes the leading quintet.

Broad Support and Wide Participation

Beyond the top five, a total of 29 additional schools received votes in at least one classification, indicating depth of talent across the state. The poll’s full voting breakdown is available through the WyoPreps website, offering a transparent view of how coaches and media members weighed each program.

What This Means for Local Communities

High school athletics remain a cornerstone of community life in Wyoming, bringing families together and fostering school spirit. The updated rankings give parents, students, and local supporters a snapshot of which programs to watch as the season progresses. Schools that have moved up the ladder can expect increased attendance at games, heightened media attention, and a boost to local pride.

Looking Ahead

With the rankings now set, the upcoming weeks will test whether the poll’s predictions hold true on the court. Coaches will use the results as motivation, while players aim to prove their worth against the state’s best. As the season unfolds, WyoPreps will continue to track scores, standings, and any further shifts in the rankings.
