Casper, WY – The beloved Wyoming Pop Culture Con made its comeback at Eastridge Mall on Saturday, Oct. 3, and will continue Sunday, Oct. 4. Organized by local entrepreneur Karla Sims, the two‑day event provides a free‑admission gathering for fans of comics, movies, toys, and all things pop culture.
Community‑focused, no‑fee event
“It’s our community,” Sims said, emphasizing that the convention is meant to serve the local nerd crowd without the high price tag of larger conventions. “We don’t charge an admission fee. We just want people to come and enjoy, buy art, support the companies, support small businesses, and have a great time.”
Vendors and activities
The mall’s atrium is filled with a variety of vendors selling artwork, toys, books, clothing, accessories and more. Attendees can browse unique collectibles, meet creators, and purchase holiday‑season gifts. Many guests arrived already in costume, ranging from classic horror clowns to Ghostbusters, showcasing the enthusiasm of the local fan base.
Cosplay and camaraderie
“It’s just about being who you are, and what you love,” Sims explained. Whether a fan is displaying a comic‑book illustration, an art book, or a rare figurine, the goal is to bring people together and celebrate shared passions. The atmosphere is described as “madness” and “sheer chaos,” but in a way that Sims finds uplifting because it highlights the support of long‑time friends and newcomers alike.
Supporting small businesses
One of the core aims of the convention is to boost local entrepreneurs. By providing a venue where small‑scale vendors can reach a wider audience, the event helps keep money circulating within Casper’s economy. “We’re just trying to bring the community together to support small businesses, and we’re just having a great time while we’re doing it,” Sims said.
Looking ahead
The Wyoming Pop Culture Con will close its doors at 4 p.m. on Sunday, but organizers hope the momentum will carry into future years. After a year‑long hiatus, the return of the convention has been welcomed by fans who have been waiting for a local gathering of this kind. “We want everybody to come and have a great time,” Sims added, inviting anyone who loves pop culture to join the celebration.
