The Wyoming Legion Baseball season is heating up as teams compete for spots in the Division I and Division II State Tournaments. The top four teams from each conference will qualify for the Division I State Tournament in Gillette, while the next four teams will compete in the Division II State Tournament in Green River.
Conference Standings
The Laramie Rangers, Cheyenne Hawks, and Torrington Tigers are vying for the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds in the South Conference, while the Sheridan Jets, Cody Cubs, Jackson Giants, Powell Pioneers, and Lovell Mustangs are still alive for the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds in the North Conference.
The Laramie Rangers recently clinched the No. 3 seed from the South at the DI State Tournament with wins over the Cheyenne Hawks. The Rangers won 10-2 and 8-0, with Looney hitting a 2-RBI double and Dorrell adding a 3-run triple in the first game.
The Torrington Tigers also had a strong week, defeating the Laramie JV Rangers 11-3 and 16-15 in a pair of conference games. The Tigers built a 9-1 lead in the second game, but the Laramie JV Rangers rallied to force extra innings before ultimately falling short.
The Wyoming Legion Baseball season will continue with a handful of non-conference games before the Division I State Tournament starts on July 24 in Gillette. The Division II State Tournament begins on July 30 in Green River.
