The University of Wyoming football team officially opened fall camp on Wednesday morning inside War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. The team, under third-year head coach Jay Sawvel, will open the season on September 5 at Colorado State.
Coach Sawvel’s Thoughts on the First Day of Camp
Sawvel expressed his excitement about the team’s first day of practice, stating that the team’s enthusiasm and improved appearance at various positions were notable positives. He also praised the team’s tempo and the players’ ability to keep up with the coaches’ expectations.
Cowboy running back Samuel ‘Tote’ Harris was recently named to the Maxwell Award watch list, which is presented annually to the outstanding player in college football. Harris was a preseason All-MW selection by both Phil Steele and Athlon Sports and was Wyoming’s leading rusher last season.
Upcoming Schedule
The Cowboys will open their home portion of the schedule against Northern Colorado on September 12. They will also host Hawai’i on September 26 and MW newcomer Northern Illinois on October 17.
