The Dan Speas Fish Hatchery in Wyoming has temporarily closed to visitors as construction begins on a new cool/warm water fish production facility. The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of visitors and staff during the demolition phase of the project.
Expansion Plans
The new facility will boost the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s ability to manage recreational fishing opportunities by raising sport fish locally. Anglers can look forward to high-quality, in-state production of walleye, sauger, crappie, bluegill, largemouth bass, and channel catfish.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will reassess the closure in the fall of 2026, once initial demolition and foundational work are safely completed. The department is committed to keeping the community informed throughout the project.
