Wyndham Clark is leading the US Open with a four-shot lead and the lowest 36-hole score at Shinnecock Hills. Clark’s score of 7-under 133 is the best at the course, and he is looking to bring his best game for the weekend.
Challenges Ahead
The USGA has promised not to let the course get out of control like it did in 2018, but the forecast suggests strong winds and dry conditions, which could make the course more challenging. Scottie Scheffler, who is seven shots behind Clark, said that his job is to play the course as it is and see what the USGA decides to do.
Xander Schauffele and Matt Fitzpatrick are tied for second place at 137, along with Sam Stevens and Tom Kim. Rory McIlroy is at even-par 140, and he believes that he still has a chance to catch up with Clark.
The cut was made at 143, and several big names, including Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm, missed it. Joaquin Niemann had a remarkable day, making a 9 on one hole and then shooting 65 in the second round to make the cut.
