Wylie’s cross country teams started their season on a high note, with the Pirates earning second place in the boys’ standings and the Lady Pirates taking third place in the girls’ division at the Wylie Under the Lights meet.
Top Finishes
Alexis Lee led the Lady Pirates with a ninth-place finish, completing the 2-mile course in 13:28.89. Sarah Barbe and Alice Hall also cracked the top 20, with Barbe placing 16th in 13:50.84 and Hall finishing 19th in 14:08.7.
On the boys’ side, Karter Kekuna placed 10th with a time of 10:53.77, followed closely by Jaron Savage in 11th place with a time of 10:55.6. The Wylie East cross country team also held a one-mile time trial, with Michael Price finishing in 4:30 and Evangeline Williams clocking a time of 4:57.
Upcoming Meets
The Wylie cross country team is scheduled to compete at the Clay Minton Invitational in Sulphur Springs on Saturday, while the Wylie East team will face its first real test of the year at Frontier Park in Prosper on Friday.
