Wylie Lady Pirates advance to championship bracket
The Wylie Lady Pirates opened bracket play against familiar rival Waxahachie. After defeating the Lady Indians in a five‑set opener on Aug. 11 and earlier beating Waxahachie in the 2024 Class 6A playoffs, Wylie swept Waxahachie 28‑26, 25‑14 on Saturday. The victory moved the Pirates into the championship bracket, where they faced nationally‑ranked Cornerstone Christian. Cornerstone proved a tough opponent, handing Wylie a 25‑8, 25‑23 loss and ending the tournament run.
Overall, Wylie posted a 12‑2 record heading into the event and went 4‑1 in Allen, including an unbeaten 3‑0 performance in pool play on Friday.
