Worcester, Mass. – Police announced Friday that an arrest warrant has been issued for Karen Solomon, 58, the wife of off‑duty Worcester Police Department Patrolman Kurt Solomon, 57, who was discovered dead inside a home earlier this week.
Warrant details and ongoing search
Chief Paul Saucier told reporters the warrant charges Solomon with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury. He added that officers consider her armed and dangerous.
Search crews, including Worcester police, U.S. Marshals Service, helicopters, divers, sonar units and K‑9 teams, have been combing the area around Coes Reservoir for four days. Public parks and other areas near the reservoir remain closed indefinitely as the hunt continues.
Victim background and nonprofit work
Kurt Solomon was a 31‑year veteran of the Worcester Police Department and a father of two. He was found dead early Tuesday morning with injuries caused by a “sharp object,” according to the police. His service weapon was not reported missing.
Solomon founded First HELP, a nonprofit dedicated to suicide prevention for first responders and their families. The organization provides mental‑health resources and raises awareness about the pressures faced by law‑enforcement personnel.
Public assistance requested
Surveillance footage captured Karen Solomon walking on a nearby street after the incident. Police are asking anyone who sees her to contact the department by texting 274637 or calling (508) 799‑8606.
The investigation remains active, and officials said they will continue searching the reservoir area Saturday morning.
