In this edition of Love 4 Pets, three dogs currently waiting for homes at Albuquerque’s animal shelters are featured: Woody, Zwei and Kenai. Each has a different story and personality, and all are looking for caring families or foster homes to help them flourish.

Woody arrived at the shelter after being struck by a car about a month ago. He suffered pelvic fractures and is still on the mend, which means he’s taking things at a gentler pace — short walks and relaxed backyard time suit him best while he recovers. Staff describe Woody as a smart, calm dog who sleeps through the night and is house-trained. He appears to be around nine years old and is likely a Labrador mix, with a mellow, affectionate temperament.

Zwei is an Australian Shepherd mix and a three-legged sweetheart who thrives on companionship. She’s known for her excellent manners, calm leash behavior and her love of leaning in for hugs. Zwei is currently placed in foster care, and anyone interested in adopting her should reach out to Albuquerque Animal Welfare to arrange a visit with her foster family.

Kenai is a friendly Labrador retriever mix with a big personality. He enjoys people, walks well on leash and is eager to explore — especially if toys, car rides and attention are involved.
