A 31-year-old West Palm Beach woman, Beatrice Telisca, was taken into custody on Friday morning in connection with a January 24 crash that killed 26-year-old Gage Chidester at the intersection of Jog Road and Okeechobee Boulevard.
Crash Details
According to the report, a 2022 Nissan Altima was traveling north on Jog Road and approaching the intersection with Okeechobee Boulevard when the pedestrian, who was homeless, was attempting to traverse Jog Road against the crosswalk signal. The Nissan accelerated as the traffic light turned to yellow and struck the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan, later identified as Telisca, left the scene but was located at her home in West Palm Beach and provided a statement to the sheriff’s office confirming she was the driver involved in the collision. She is facing a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and was released on $100,000 bond with no driving allowed.
