WNBA Star Brittney Griner Files for Divorce

Brittney Griner, a 10-time WNBA All-Star, has filed for divorce from her wife, Cherelle, according to court documents filed in Fulton County, Georgia. The complaint for divorce states that the couple married on June 18, 2018, and have been separated since July 24. Griner says the marriage is ‘irretrievably broken,’ with ‘no hope of reconciliation,’ and is asking the court to grant a divorce.

The couple has one son, born in 2024. Griner is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the child, child support, and an equitable division of the couple’s marital assets and debts. Griner recently signed a one-year deal with the Connecticut Sun for the 2026 season.
