Wisconsin Track Star Shines

Wisconsin men’s track and field sophomore Matan Ivri made his mark on Friday, running the No. 5 1500-meter time in program history en route to a fifth-place finish at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships at Eugene, Oregon.

Breaking Records

Ivri crossed the line in 3 minutes, 37.41 seconds, shaving almost a second off of his previous best-time, en route to earning First-Team All-America honors. The Shimshit, Israel, native started in the back of the pack for the first 700 meters but was able to make some moves in the 400 meters to finish fifth in his NCAA track and field championship debut.

Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Mick Byrne praised Ivri, saying he “raced like a season veteran” and that the last 100 meters were “crazy” as Ivri ran into congestion but managed to squeeze through traffic for fifth in a personal-best time.

Badgers Volleyball Adds New Player

The Wisconsin volleyball team will welcome a new player, Decelise Champion, for the 2026-27 season. Champion, a highly touted volleyball player from Puerto Rico, will join the team a season early after excelling in her previous competitions.

Wisconsin softball head coach Yvette Healy also announced the addition of Melania Luostari, a power hitter from Maple, Wisconsin, who spent her freshman season at Auburn University.
