Wisconsin High School Track Championships Set for June 5-6

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) is gearing up for its 130th Boys and 55th Girls Track and Field Championships, scheduled for June 5-6 at the Veterans Memorial Stadium Complex, located on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse campus. This event is a significant highlight in the state’s high school athletics calendar, drawing talented young athletes from across Wisconsin to compete for top honors.

Event Schedule and Details

The championships will unfold over two days, with the Division 1 session kicking off at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Competitions will follow a structured order of events, available on the WIAA’s Track & Field Tournament page. Divisions 2 and 3 will commence their events later in the day at 3:30 p.m. The finals on Saturday will begin at 9:30 a.m., starting with Division 3, followed by Divisions 2 and 1.

2025 Championship Recap

Last year, the Arrowhead girls’ team claimed the Division 1 title for the second year in a row, while Neenah finished as runners-up. In Division 2, Freedom secured the championship, with the University School of Milwaukee close behind. Cochrane-Fountain City emerged victorious in Division 3, narrowly defeating Lourdes Academy. Sun Prairie East took home the girls’ wheelchair team championship, continuing their winning streak.

On the boys’ side, De Pere clinched the Division 1 title, edging out Homestead. Notre Dame triumphed in Division 2, with Winneconne as the runner-up. Marathon was the Division 3 champion, and Marquette dominated the boys’ wheelchair category for the third consecutive year.

Historical Achievements

In the history of the WIAA track championships, Madison West and Rosholt have each won six girls’ team titles, while Whitefish Bay leads the boys with 18 championships. Notably, Whitefish Bay achieved 16 consecutive victories from 1937 to 1952. Among individual athletes, several have made their mark by winning the same event four times, including Kennedy Blahnik of Algoma and Cami Davre of Whitefish Bay.

Division 1 Highlights

This year, Arrowhead leads with the most participants in Division 1, competing in 15 events. Muskego and Nicolet follow closely with 13 entries each. Notable athletes include junior Kyenret Rinkam of Brookfield Central and senior Lydia Lazarescu of Holmen, both vying for the 100-meter dash title. Senior Avery Bott of Arrowhead is a strong contender in the 200-meter dash, while senior Ella Anschutz of Muskego aims to defend her title in the 3,200-meter run.

The championships promise to be a thrilling showcase of young athletic talent, with many returning champions and new contenders eager to make their mark in Wisconsin high school sports.
