The Wisconsin Elections Commission has ordered an investigation into the mailing of duplicate absentee ballots to voters in Green Bay in two successive elections. Some voters in both the April general election and next month’s primary election were sent two ballots by the City Clerk’s office.
Investigation Details
Elections Commission Member Ann Jacobs stated that the duplicate ballots should not have been sent. Jacobs added that if the city of Green Bay used the WisVote system to print the mailing labels for absentee ballots, instead of a third-party vendor, there are safeguards in place to prevent double printing. City Clerk Celestine Jeffreys has said the April mistake was due to a mailing issue, while this month’s error was a printing mistake.
