Wife of Bexar County crash victim urges driver to come forward

San Antonio – The wife of a man whose body was discovered after a hit‑and‑run on a southeast Bexar County road is publicly pleading for the driver to step forward. Sherry Finex, whose husband Edward Finex, 37, was found beside Hildebrandt Road near South WW White Road, said the driver must “repent” and give her family the answers they need.

Details of the crash

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), a crew cutting grass on Wednesday morning uncovered Edward Finax’s decomposing body. He had been reported missing earlier in the week. BCSO’s Facebook post noted that he was last seen on Sunday walking away from Mission Trail Baptist Hospital.

Investigators released photos of the vehicle believed to be involved – a mid‑2000s Ford F‑150 pickup with front‑end damage and a missing passenger‑side headlight. The sheriff’s office continues to seek any information that could identify the driver.

Family’s heartbreaking circumstances

Sherry Finex, who is herself battling a terminal lung condition, received her diagnosis the same day her husband disappeared. She is now on hospice care with only months to live. The loss of her husband of 16 years, and father of their four children, has left the family devastated.

“I’m still sitting here dreaming that he’s going to walk through the door and he’s going to come in,” Finex said tearfully. “I know one day before I stop breathing, whoever did this to my husband, you will pay in full and you need to come forward.”

Call for information

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information to call 210‑335‑6000. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses in hopes of locating the driver.

The case underscores the pain that hit‑and‑run incidents cause families and the broader community. Local law‑enforcement officials stress the importance of accountability and urge anyone who may have seen the vehicle or has any detail, no matter how small, to contact investigators.

Community response

Friends, neighbors, and local churches have rallied around the Finex family, offering prayers, meals, and support. The appeal from Sherry Finex reflects a broader desire for justice and closure in a community that values family, faith, and personal responsibility.
