The White House announced that applications are now open for volunteers to decorate the executive mansion or perform during the 2026 holiday season. Members of the public from every U.S. state and territory can apply for the two distinct roles: holiday decorators or featured open-house performers.
Application Details
Decorating tasks will take place over the week of November 23 through November 29, while selected musical acts, choirs, school bands, and entertainers will perform throughout December. Prospective volunteers have until Friday, August 28, at 5:00 p.m. ET to submit their applications online.
White House officials stated that selected applicants will be notified by Friday, October 2, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Individual applicants for decorating must be at least 18 years old, and every participant must apply separately. While musical ensembles and groups can submit applications for performance slots, all selected volunteers across both categories are required to cover their own travel, lodging, and personal expenses.
