Alice Smith of Wetumpka, a devoted Christian, has spent her life serving the low-income and impoverished community through her work at the Montgomery Community Action agency.
Giving Back to the Community
Smith’s faith is the driving force behind her selfless acts, as she believes it is her duty to give back to the community. Her friend, Cynthia Smoke, who nominated her for the Pay It Forward award, says Smith has always been an inspiration, teaching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the importance of giving.
Smith and her husband have been known to give farm-fresh produce to those in need, and she has also volunteered at the Salvation Army during the holiday season. When asked about her giving, Smith humbly says, “It don’t seem like I gave enough. I wish I had more to give.”
Stewart Vance of the Vance Law Firm is paying it forward to Smith, recognizing her selfless acts and inspiring others to do the same. Smith plans to use the $333 award to continue doing good things for others, despite going through a difficult time in her life.
