West Palm Beach Police Chief Tony Araujo has terminated five command staff members following an internal affairs investigation into alleged double dipping. The investigation, conducted by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, found multiple policy violations by seven top officers, including the former assistant police chief, former Major, and five captains. Two of the captains have since retired.
The decision to terminate the officers was made after Chief Araujo heard from them in an all-day hearing on Monday. The investigation found that even after software was installed in 2022 to fix timekeeping problems, the officers found a workaround and continued to put in for overlapping hours.
