The Florida Atlantic University/Northwest Community Health Alliance Community Health Center is hosting a back-to-school block party in West Palm Beach to provide free resources to local families. The event will take place on Saturday, August 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the U.B. Kinsey Educational and Community Center.
Free Services and Supplies
The block party will offer a range of free services, including physicals, school immunizations, and mammograms and blood pressure screenings for adults. Additionally, families can receive free haircuts, school supplies, and grocery bags with perishable foods.
According to Kaelonni Dorcius, a licensed clinical social worker at FAU/NCHA, the goal of the event is to provide a welcoming and accessible space for community members to connect with local resources. "Our community is very vocal about their needs, and the biggest need is connection to the resources that are there," Dorcius said.
The event is open to all, and no registration is required. The health clinic is located inside the U.B. Kinsey Educational and Community Center on Eighth Street in West Palm Beach’s Historic Northwest District.
