West Austin Pet Hospital, a new independently owned veterinary clinic, is set to open in West Lake Hills on June 29. The hospital is led by owner Sean Quintana, DVM, who aims to provide a more personal alternative to corporate-owned veterinary practices.
Building a Community-Focused Hospital
Quintana’s passion for veterinary medicine began early, and he has worked with animals of all kinds. After earning a biochemistry degree from Oklahoma State University and graduating from the veterinary program at Texas A&M University in 2021, Quintana moved to Austin and began practicing veterinary medicine in the area.
The clinic will offer a range of services, including wellness exams, vaccines, blood work, urgent care visits, and emergency care. Quintana prioritized providing access to high-level veterinary medicine during the development of the hospital.
Reducing Stress for Pets
The hospital is designed to create a calm and supportive experience for both pets and owners. The facility has separate exam rooms for cats and dogs, and dedicated wards for hospitalized animals. The team will use fear-free handling strategies and may recommend medications to make visits more comfortable.
The clinic will also prioritize patience and compassion over forcing pets through stressful situations. Treatment plans will be individualized, taking into account each pet owner’s goals, financial considerations, and the pet’s overall condition.
The community can learn more about the hospital, receive updates, and sign up for a free first exam through the clinic’s website. The upcoming open house is free and open to the public, featuring tours of the facility, cocktails, pet portraits, and more.
