A 40-year-old man from West Adams has been taken into custody in Mexico after being accused of murdering his wife and kidnapping their 5-year-old daughter. Ruben Fregoso was arrested about two weeks after the alleged murder, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Investigation and Charges

Marisol Garcia Palacios, 36, was found dead inside a home in West Adams on May 24. Authorities have not released details on the cause of her death. Fregoso is charged with one count of murder and one misdemeanor count of child abuse under circumstance or conditions other than great bodily injury or death.

The U.S. Embassy in Mexico is working on extraditing Fregoso to the U.S. The 5-year-old daughter was found safe and is in the custody of Mexican officials, who are also working on returning her to family.
