Weekend Events Across Wyoming Aug. 28‑30: Rodeos, Festivals, Live Music

Wyoming families and visitors have a packed schedule of community events this weekend, August 28‑30. Whether you enjoy outdoor rodeos, live music, local markets or family‑friendly festivals, the state’s towns are offering free or low‑cost activities that celebrate tradition, faith and family.

Sweetwater County – Rock Springs

The Sweetwater Summer Send‑Off festival kicks off Saturday at the Sweetwater County Travel & Tourism office. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. and the celebration runs until 7:00 p.m., featuring local food vendors, crafts and live entertainment. Horse racing returns to Sweetwater Downs on both Saturday and Sunday, with races beginning at 1:00 p.m. each day.

Niobrara County – Lusk

Saturday morning, the Niobrara County Fairgrounds host the Family Fun Fest starting at 10:00 a.m. Attendees can enjoy free food, puppet shows and a variety of games—perfect for children and grandparents alike.

Cody and Jackson Hole – Rodeo Nights

Traditional western rodeo action continues on Sunday night at the Cody Nite Rodeo, with the main event beginning at 8:00 p.m. Saturday night, the Jackson Hole Rodeo offers a similar schedule, also starting at 8:00 p.m.

Cheyenne

  • Girls’ Day Out: Saturday, shop local boutiques, artisans and specialty makers at the Cheyenne Depot Museum.

  • RMG Last Day Par‑Tay!: Sunday marks the final celebration at Riverfront Mini Golf, with food trucks, shaved ice and running waterfalls.

Sheridan

Sunday, August 30, the Big Horn Equestrian Center offers free polo matches starting at 1:00 p.m. Spectators can choose field‑side parking or bleacher seating.

Gillette

Saturday, Switchfoot and Hoobastank headline a rock concert at CAM‑PLEX Multi‑Event Facilities. The event includes tailgating, food, drinks and ice cream, with performances beginning at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Wyoming Dinosaur Center

While not tied to a specific date, the Wyoming Dinosaur Center remains open for visitors interested in the state’s prehistoric heritage.
