All Washoe County Schools will be back in session on Monday, August 17, following the lifting of some evacuation orders due to fires north of Reno.
In a statement to parents, the district expressed gratitude to firefighters and first responders for their efforts to protect the community. The district also acknowledged that not all families will be able to return to school due to ongoing evacuations.
Bus transportation will not be available in areas designated as ‘red’ or ‘yellow,’ which have been evacuated or are on standby for possible evacuation. Parents can visit www.emergencywashoe.com for more information on emergency designations in their neighborhood.
The district looks forward to welcoming students back to school, where they can begin their classes, see their friends and teachers, and start the school year strong.
