ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a person identified as a suspect in a road-rage shooting that left a man struck in the head while he stood in his front yard.

The shooting occurred Saturday evening in southwest Albuquerque. The victim was showing a friend his new motorcycle when two unrelated vehicles — a BMW and a Mitsubishi — pulled up amid a confrontation. Persons in at least one seat in each vehicle fired shots, and a stray bullet struck the man in the head.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies and other first responders located the injured man at about 6:53 p.m. Paramedics performed a “scoop and run” to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Officers attempted to stop the BMW around 7:04 p.m. near Bridge and Atrisco; the car drove away but the patrol officer reported getting a clear view of the driver. Police later detained a person who was exiting a Nissan Titan, and during an interview that person identified Horowitz as the driver of the Mitsubishi. Witness descriptions, AirTag data and additional evidence led investigators to name Horowitz as a suspect and indicated he may be in El Paso.

Horowitz is now facing multiple felonies: seven counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of shooting at or from a motor vehicle, and one count of aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm.
