Vikings place safety Jamal Adams on injured reserve, add cornerback Bryce Phillips

In Eagan, Minnesota, the Minnesota Vikings announced on Monday that safety and linebacker Jamal Adams has been placed on injured reserve. Adams left a preseason game on a cart with a right‑knee injury and is expected to undergo season‑ending surgery.

Adams, a three‑time Pro Bowl selection, had just signed with the Vikings two days before training camp began, making his injury a significant blow to the team’s defensive plans for the upcoming season.

Roster move to replace Adams

To fill the vacancy, the Vikings signed cornerback Bryce Phillips. Phillips entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs after the 2026 draft. He joins the roster as a depth addition on the outside defensive unit.

Phillips’ brother, Clark Phillips III, currently plays cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons after a standout collegiate career at Utah.

The roster change comes as the Vikings continue to shape their defense ahead of the regular season, hoping to mitigate the loss of Adams with the addition of Phillips.
