VENU Foundation extends deadline for statewide mural contest at Broken Arrow amphitheater

The Regent Bank Amphitheater, a next‑generation live‑entertainment venue slated for Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, announced an extension of its mural‑design competition deadline. Submissions are now accepted through September 7, allowing more Oklahoma artists to participate in the statewide contest.

Competition details

The contest is organized by the VENU Arts & Culture Foundation (VACF), a 501(c)(3) that supports arts and culture in the communities served by VENU Holding Corp., in partnership with ARTSOK, a nonprofit dedicated to making the arts accessible across the Tulsa metropolitan area. Winners will see their artwork reproduced as large‑format wall graphics that will be displayed at the amphitheater for thousands of concertgoers each season.

Artists do not need prior mural‑painting experience. The selected designs will be produced and installed using a large‑scale print‑installation process rather than hand‑painting on site, opening the opportunity to painters, illustrators, photographers, digital artists, graphic designers, mixed‑media creators, graffiti artists, and others.

Quotes from organizers

“This is what the Foundation was built for, connecting art and community in a way that leaves a lasting mark,” said Chloe Polhamus, Board President of the VENU Arts & Culture Foundation. “The competition gives Oklahoma artists a real platform, and we look forward to the depth of talent this extension brings.”

Chad Stark of ARTSOK added, “We heard from artists who needed a little more time to finish their submissions. Extending the deadline gives them that opportunity. What we love most about the competition’s structure is that you do not have to be a muralist to win. The installation process opens this up to any artist with a strong idea, painter or not.”

Prizes and timeline

Cash prizes will be awarded to three winners. After the new deadline, winners will be notified in the weeks that follow, and installation is planned for fall 2026 in coordination with the venue’s opening.

Entries will be judged on originality, artistic quality, connection to the competition’s theme, visual impact, and suitability for large‑scale reproduction. Full eligibility requirements, submission guidelines, and entry forms are available at arts302.com.

About the partners

The VENU Arts & Culture Foundation is a tax‑exempt organization that supports live music and the arts through community programming, grants, education, concerts, and partnerships that empower local talent and enrich cultural life in the regions VENU serves.

ARTSOK, also a 501(c)(3), strengthens the cultural vitality of the Tulsa area through free concerts, festivals, youth scholarships, community arts programs, exhibitions, classes, and major performances, relying on donor and community support to keep these opportunities accessible to all.

Both organizations view the mural competition as a way to foster regional pride, provide a platform for emerging artists, and ensure that the new amphitheater becomes a visual landmark as well as a musical one.
