Vandals caused extensive damage at Sun Valley Park and golf course over the weekend, leaving taxpayers to cover the cost of repairs, according to a Louisville Metro Councilmember.
Councilwoman Crystal Bast said people riding four-wheelers drove through the park sometime Sunday night, tearing up portions of the Sun Valley Golf Course. The fairway on Hole No. 1 was completely torn up.
Damage and Cleanup
Bast said the damage comes after recent investments into the park, as well as additional upgrades already in the works. Instead of spending those dollars on new improvements, we’re now forced to spend taxpayer money repairing damage that never should have happened, Bast said.
The vandalism went beyond the golf course. Someone also used spray foam to create swastikas in the park’s parking lot, which will also require extensive cleanup. There is absolutely no place for that in our community, she said.
Bast said security cameras for the park are already in the works in an effort to better protect the area. She asked anyone who witnessed the vandalism, has security footage or has information that could help identify those involved to call Louisville Metro Police.
