A woman walking her dog discovered a man who had been fatally shot in the head Monday morning in Van Nuys.
Shell casings were found at the scene after officers responded to the residential neighborhood location near Murrieta and Hazeltine avenues, east of Van Nuys Boulevard.
The person, who died at the scene, was identified only as a man in his 40s. Details about what led to the shooting were not immediately available.
No arrests were reported. A description of the shooter was not available Monday morning.
