Van Meter, Iowa, has implemented a new lawn-watering schedule to help maintain system pressure after completing work to upsize pipes in the booster station.
The city said the improvements are working, but the schedule will assist in managing system pressure. Under the new guidelines, odd-numbered street addresses can water on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while even-numbered addresses can water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. No irrigation is allowed on Sunday, and all lawn watering must be completed by 10 a.m.
The city also encourages residents to water deeply and less frequently to create drought-resistant lawns and reduce reliance on surface moisture. Additionally, watering early in the morning is recommended to minimize evaporation.
