Valvoline to relocate global headquarters to downtown Cincinnati

Valvoline Global Operations confirmed Monday that its worldwide headquarters will move from Lexington, Kentucky to downtown Cincinnati. The new corporate campus will occupy the historic building at 312 Elm Street, with a major renovation slated for completion in time for a spring 2027 opening.

City leaders welcome the move

Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval praised the decision, calling it “a huge win for our downtown, for our local economy, and for the momentum our city and partners have been working to build.” The mayor added that the city stands ready to support Valvoline as the company integrates into Cincinnati’s urban core.

Impact on jobs and the regional economy

While the headquarters will relocate, Valvoline’s Lexington facility will stay operational as an “Americas Hub,” supporting more than 400 employees who serve the United States, Canada and Latin America. The move is expected to bring additional high‑skill jobs to Cincinnati and increase demand for local services, housing and retail.

Company perspective

Jamal Muashsher, president and chief executive officer of Valvoline Global Operations, said the relocation “provides the space for our teams to better collaborate, innovate and operate more effectively,” reinforcing the company’s commitment to delivering top‑tier automotive solutions worldwide.

Historical background

Founded in 1866 as America’s first branded motor oil, Valvoline now operates thousands of locations across North America. The decision to move its global headquarters reflects a broader trend of corporations seeking vibrant downtown locations that offer access to talent, transportation and cultural amenities.

What’s next for Cincinnati

The city’s Economic Development Office is working with Valvoline to ensure a smooth transition, including infrastructure upgrades and community outreach. Residents can expect construction activity around Elm Street in the coming months, and local businesses anticipate increased foot traffic once the headquarters opens.

Valvoline’s relocation underscores Cincinnati’s growing reputation as a hub for manufacturing and technology firms, reinforcing the city’s strategic focus on attracting and retaining major employers.
