Valley View Local Schools is actively seeking a new board member to fill the position of board president, as Tim Rudd has announced his resignation effective July 13. Rudd, who was reelected in an uncontested election last November, had four more years left in his term.
Rudd expressed his affection for the Valley View community in a Facebook post, stating, “I have developed great affection for this community and I will serve the remaining two months with the same focus and intentionality as I have put into the last four-plus years.” He also expressed gratitude for the support and challenges he encountered during his tenure.
In an interview with the Dayton Daily News, Rudd explained that his decision to resign is due to his move to Centerville to be closer to his law practice, Braum Rudd, which specializes in business law.
Special Election Scheduled
The district has announced a special election set for November 2027 to elect a board member who will serve the remainder of Rudd’s term from January 2028 until December 31, 2029. In the meantime, the district is accepting applications from interested candidates who wish to be appointed to the board.
Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit a letter of interest and a brief resume to Valley View treasurer Valorie Hill at [email protected]. Applications must be received by June 8, after which the Valley View board will review submissions and contact selected candidates for interviews.
The board expressed its anticipation of welcoming a new member committed to the success and well-being of every student in the district. “We look forward to welcoming a new member who is committed to the success and well-being of every student in our district,” the board stated in their announcement.
