The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) has unveiled a new design for its Paydirt Pete mascot. The updated look was revealed on the same day UTEP officially joined the Mountain West Conference.
New Design and Merchandise
According to UTEP Athletics Director Jim Senter, the new design is modern with a popular ‘retro’ logo the Miners used in the 1980s. Torch Creative helped design Pete’s new look, which will be featured on various merchandise, including products from Adidas, bobbleheads, and more.
A costume version of the new Pete will make its debut at UTEP’s football games in September. UTEP Spirit Operations Director Bianca Marquez expressed excitement about the new mascot, stating that Paydirt Pete is at the heart of game-day energy.
UTEP fans can expect to find new Pete merchandise, including plush and bubblehead versions, on sale by the fall. The UTEP Bookstore will have a pop-up with new Pete merchandise on July 10.
