UTEP’s men’s golf squad traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, for the USC Intercollegiate at Whirlwind Golf Club and posted a 554 (-22) total, earning a respectable sixth‑place finish overall. The Miners (277‑277‑554) were 13 strokes behind tournament leader Santa Clara.
Individual performances shine
Senior Patrick Foley led the Miners with a two‑round total of 132, matching a 66 in each round and tying USC’s Jaden Dumdumaya (64‑68). Foley recorded 13 birdies — the second‑most in the field — including an eagle on the 12th hole (par‑5, 611 yards). Newcomer Luke Harwick posted a 136 total (67‑69) to tie for 13th place, adding 10 birdies of his own.
Other Miners contributed solid rounds: Valentin Luna, competing as an individual, posted a 142 total to finish tied for 51st, while freshman Julien Dulait also recorded a 142 total in his collegiate debut. Senior Marc Keller finished tied for 68th with a 145 total, and Alexandre Godin rounded out the field at tied for 75th (147 total).
Team standings
The tournament field was led by Santa Clara (265‑276‑541), followed by New Mexico State (270‑272‑542), host USC (269‑274‑543), Stanford (280‑269‑549) and Arkansas State (274‑279‑553) just ahead of UTEP.
The final round is scheduled for Tuesday, with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. PT/8:45 a.m. MDT.
