US Senate hopeful Josh Turek visited Easterseals’ Camp Sunnyside in Des Moines, where he played basketball with children and shared his personal experiences. Turek, who attended the camp as a child, said hearing the campers’ stories helped him open up about his own journey with a disability.

Turek, a Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, told the campers that they can achieve their goals with hard work and the right support. ‘You’re going to have the supports that you need, because you can, regardless of what disability you’re born with, what your situation is. If you work hard, you can achieve some good things,’ he said.
