US Rep. Russell Fry has endorsed Sen. Darline Graham in South Carolina’s Republican Senate primary runoff. Fry finished third in the special primary and his backing follows that of other powerful Republicans, including Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina and President Donald Trump.
Runoff Election
The runoff election is set for August 25, with Graham facing off against U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman. The winner will face Democratic nominee Dr. Annie Andrews in November’s general election. Graham’s brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham, died suddenly last month, and Darline Graham was appointed to serve out the remainder of his term.
Fry said in a news release that he believes Graham will be a fighter and ally for President Trump in the Senate. Graham has closely tied herself to Trump in her campaign, and both Fry and Graham have often mentioned their humble origins as a touchpoint for understanding kitchen table issues.
