The US men’s cricket team is set to play in the 2028 LA Games as part of the Olympic men’s Twenty20 competition. The team will join other top-ranked teams from around the world, including reigning world champions India, Britain, and South Africa.
Qualification Pathway
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved a qualification pathway that will select one team from each of the five continents based on the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings at a cut-off date on December 31, 2026.
Australia and New Zealand will compete for the one spot from Oceania, while the US will represent the Americas if it remains in the top 15 in the ICC rankings. A separate Caribbean regional qualifier will determine which country represents that region.
The women’s competition will also feature six teams, with Australia, Britain, South Africa, and India securing spots as the four best-performing continental teams in the ongoing World Cup. The US women’s team did not qualify due to its current ranking outside the top 15.
