Titan Mining, a Canadian miner, has signed a lease with the US Army to develop graphite processing capacity at two sites in the US. The sites include a 245-acre parcel at Pine Bluff Arsenal in Arkansas and a 97-acre parcel at Anniston Army Depot in Alabama.
Domestic Supply of Graphite
The US has been trying to end its reliance on imports for graphite, a key component in the production of batteries for electric vehicles and military hardware. The leases, which can last up to 50 years, will allow Titan Mining to finance, design, build, operate, and eventually decommission the facilities.
Construction is expected to begin in the second half of 2027. Titan Mining will continue to pursue additional Army sites to develop its domestic natural flake graphite supply chain.
