Police responded to Tom’s Watch Bar on Pittsburgh’s North Shore shortly after midnight on October 21, after two bar employees reported damage to their vehicles. One employee discovered her driver’s‑side mirror missing, while a second employee later found her car had a broken mirror, a shattered rear window, a ripped‑out center console and a bent license plate.
Suspect identified and detained
Witnesses described a man in a green shirt and jeans sitting in the second employee’s car and rummaging through it. When she ordered him to leave, he complied. While officers were speaking with the women, the suspect, identified as Ronald Sivillo, was seen walking about 20 yards away. Officers detained him and he allegedly admitted to drinking five IPAs and attempting to break into a vehicle he thought was his.
Detectives noted that Sivillo smelled of alcohol at the time of questioning. The investigation confirmed that one vehicle had a detached driver’s‑side mirror, while the other suffered multiple damages, including two missing mirrors, a shattered rear window, a partially removed center console and a bent license plate.
School district response
The Upper Saint Clair School District confirmed that the employee has been on administrative leave since September and will remain on leave while the matter is investigated. In a statement, the district said it has taken “appropriate measures to ensure continuity of instruction,” assigning a long‑term substitute teacher to support students during the employee’s absence.
“Please be assured that the District continues to monitor this matter closely,” the statement read. “The District remains committed to providing a safe, supportive, and productive learning environment for all students. If you have a child in the high school who has questions or needs support, please have them reach out to their school counselor or one of our building assistant principals or principal.”
The district added that, because the situation involves a confidential personnel matter, it cannot share additional details at this time and thanked the community for its understanding and continued support.
Community impact
Local residents expressed concern over the incident, emphasizing the importance of safe behavior on the city’s nightlife corridors. Bar staff and patrons alike stressed the need for responsible drinking and vigilance to protect personal property.
Police continue to investigate the case and have urged anyone with additional information to contact the Pittsburgh Police Department.
